About the course
Pysanky is the art of writing designs on eggs with wax and dyes. The oldest example of pysanka (singular form) was discovered in 2008 and dates back to the 17th century, yet some evidence exists to suggest the practice went back into ancient times. They were traditionally made by women to celebrate spring festivals and the knowledge was passed from mother to daughter. In this course I will show you how to take a simple egg and turn it into a beautiful pysanka!

About The Instructor
Gina Leslie
I am a collector of crafts. I see a thing and want to know how it’s made. My interests range anywhere from basket making to stained glass, crochet to quilting. Although I learned to make pysanky back in the 80’s it’s not a craft I do on a regular basis. Instead of being intimidated by the beautifully intricate patterns I saw, often around Easter time, I wanted to know how it was done (hint: it’s not as hard or as complicated as the finished pieces make it look).
Although I dabble in many crafts, my primary passion is photography –landscapes and details most people overlook. I also published a book, The Art of Sigils, in 2018 whereby I encourage people to tap into their inherent creativity (we are all BORN creative). Creativity isn’t just about “art”. It’s about seeing and making things in your unique way, whether that’s baking, building cars, painting, singing – whatever it is that you do just because it brings you joy – that’s YOUR creativity and I believe we need to nurture that in ourselves in order to live fully.
